New York Times app developers are not likely to pay Amazon millions in fees in the coming months, according to a new report.
The paper, which reported Tuesday that Amazon paid the app makers $1,010,000 last year, said it was unclear how many apps were approved and when they would be added to the Kindle App Store.
A spokeswoman for Amazon declined to comment.
The $1 billion fee for app-related services is a new wrinkle in the Amazon-Kindle battle, one that will test whether the companies can keep up with Apple and Google’s efforts to make apps available for their devices.
Last week, Apple announced that it was offering developers $1 for each app that was downloaded in the United States.
